August 16, 2003

President Bill Smith welcomed those present for the business meeting at 11:50 AM. He introduced two new members, Walter and Barbara Gallis.

He introduced Ted Hilton, one of the original incorporators of the Lake Kanasatka Watershed Association, who was present at the meeting.
The minutes of the July 19th meeting were accepted as read.
Bill Smith stated that the new gate on Red Hill Road is an effort to keep AW’s off an access on the hill. The property is privately owned.
David Wolf from Deep Conservation Consultants, who had spoken to LKWA at the July meeting, sent information concerning biological testing in the lake. A one time survey to set up sampling stations and to judge insects etc. coming into the lake would cost $3000. The concensus was not to spend that much money.

The DES will do a weed survey this summer.
Ted Hilton asked about the upper end of Red Hill Road where big trees had been chopped down.
Legislation concerning personal watercraft (PWC) has gone nowhere in the last 4 sessions and there is no change.
