ASSOCIATION

President Bill Smith welcomed those present for the business meeting at 11:50 AM. He introduced two new members, Walter and Barbara Gallis.
He introduced Ted Hilton, one of the
original incorporators of the Lake Kanasatka Watershed Association,
who was present at the meeting.
The minutes of the July 19th
meeting were accepted as read.
Bill Smith stated that the new
gate on Red Hill Road is an effort to keep AW’s off an access
on the hill. The property is privately owned.
David Wolf from
Deep Conservation Consultants, who had spoken to LKWA at the July
meeting, sent information concerning biological testing in the lake.
A one time survey to set up sampling stations and to judge insects
etc. coming into the lake would cost $3000. The concensus was not to
spend that much money.
Kevin Kelly commented that the fishing is
“extraordinary”
The DES will do a weed survey this
summer.
Ted Hilton asked about the upper end of Red Hill Road
where big trees had been chopped down.
Legislation concerning
personal watercraft (PWC) has gone nowhere in the last 4 sessions and
there is no change.

presented the slate of officers for the upcoming two years:
President - John Scudder
Vice President - Laura Whitley
Secretary - Barbara Lauterwasser
Treasurer - Bob Brennan
Hospitality - MaryAnne McRae Fox Smith
Kim Anderson
It
was moved and seconded to accept the slate of officers.
The
meeting was adjourned at 12:15 and was followed by a picnic on the
beach.
